Nothing is too much trouble for the staff

Gresham Lodge, I would strongly recommend. The staff are so kind caring and patient. Its setting is just like home from home.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They are always on hand to help and offer assistance where needed and always try their very best to make residents and family welcome.

Family owned

This is actually really important.

You've may have heard lots of horror stories in the news about people in care homes being neglected and even abused. Unfortunately this does happen, mostly because of poor recruiting and inadequate supervision. It happens when owners and senior managers of the care home are many miles away, relying only spreadsheet facts & figures to manage the staff.

Gresham Lodge is different. It is owned by the Marjara family from Scunthorpe who work in the homes every day and share a burning passion to make sure your loved one receives the best possible care.

Being there every day means they'll get to know your loved one personally and are right there to help if they need anything at all. There are no channels to wade through, layers of management to negotiate or waiting around for weeks for someone to come back to you.

Being in the home every day means they get to know their staff extremely well and can take immediate action if ever something doesn't meet their exceedingly high expectations. Fortunately this rarely happens because of the extensive recruitment, training and close supervision program each and every new employee must undergo.

Tranquil setting & a wonderful community of friends

Whether your loved one is in the mood for some fun activities or just wants some quiet time to themselves, they'll always find something to suit at Gresham Lodge.

The well landscaped gardens to the rear are private and secure and feature fruit trees and a greenhouse if they fancy a little gardening.

New for 2015 is the addition of special dementia friendly sensory area to the garden where your loved one can smell and touch familiar plants and flowers on the raised flower and vegetable beds.

They always seem to have time for everyone including visitors

Linda Cragg Daughter of Resident

My mother has been a resident over the last month, she has received excellent treatment from all management staff. She has a clean comfortable room and is given excellent food.

The residents seemed to be very happy and there is plenty of occupational remedies for them to take part in.
Although staff are kept very busy, they always seem to have time for everyone including visitors.

And don't worry if gardening's not your thing. There are lots of other fun activities and events specially designed to help those who are living with dementia like our reminiscence sessions and visiting entertainers. There's never a dull moment at Gresham.

Definitely not a large 'Travel Lodge' style home

Large 'Travel Lodge' style homes may hold some showroom appeal to those who not going to actually live there. Often the reality is these homes are rather bland, impersonal and sometimes rather lonely places that are a long way from what your elderly loved one may be used to.

Gresham Lodge's home from home style is much more like a familiar and comfortable feeling private residence. It's compact 20 room size means our staff can truly get to know each and every resident, as do the residents themselves. With intimate relationships built, you can be rest assured that your loved ones will receive exactly the right care for them and will never be far away enjoying and participating in the community with their new found friends.

We hope you'll feel from this brief introduction that Gresham Lodge is the right home for your loved one. You'll find further information on full time residential, respite and day care facilities elsewhere on the site.

However, the only  way to truly know if Gresham Lodge is right is to come for a visit. You're welcome to pop in anytime for a look around and the kettle's always on.

It's also important that your loved one likes the home and feels at ease here. So why not have them come down for a free taster day. If they like that the next step is to move in for a no obligation two week stay to make sure they're completely happy.
